June 12, 2018. Summer travels are underway – currently enjoying Arkansas near the Coleman Crystal Mine. People here are genuinely friendly (unlike the mocking birds!) Digging in red dirt, relaxing under forest shade – a place we return to whenever we go eastward. Tennessee by weekend.
This image is poor photography pieced together to illustrate a memorable encounter … iPhone on zoom yields blurs, but: “The best camera for any shot is the one you have with you” (Dewitt Jones savvy wisdom).
I loved Arkansas when i was there many years ago. Beautiful area! 🙂

A few years back, I was introduced to mockingbirds in Shreveport. I’ve not seen them, since.
Enjoy your travels.

We have mockingbirds in our yard at home – when not defensive they offer multiple delightful songs – this particular pair missed the basic training on “tourist welcoming”!

I would have squawked back. Not familiar with mockingbirds, I have not had such an encounter, but the crows here do the same – as do grackles everywhere, I’ve found.

Grackles can be quite agressive!

I love mockingbirds! Years ago, one in our neighborhood sang a cell phone ringtone song…
